2016-2017 Minecraft Competition
This year the NEF is hosting and supporting a Minecraft National contest for its Academies. Students will work in teams of 3 to 6 to plan and create unique and complex builds for cash and trophy prizes. Students are also required to document their building and learning processes. While doing so they will practice 21st century digital literacy skills by working with other types of software to share their creations. Students are also required to document their exploration and building experiences by keeping a journal and participating in discussion with the classroom. Students will progress through three tiers to reach the final building project, each tier will take about two months to complete and be assessed in different ways. Free access can be provided to MinecraftEDU, plus competitors will have access to another server space if they have their own Minecraft accounts.
